Red Ice Creations Interview & a Meeting with Tom Priestley

On Saturday evening I was interviewed for over two hours by Henrik Palmgren of Red Ice Creations Radio. Red Ice are based in South West Sweden but have a following across the world. After listening to the interview and checking out their website I can quite understand why. These guys are really professional in every way. The website itself is a credit to them. Indeed I am so impressed with how they have manipulated my photograph to show both the "Daemon" and the brain that I have decided to use that image from now on in my promotional material. I have therefore changed the image on here.

The first part of the interview can be listened to, or downloaded as an MP3 at:

http://www.redicecreations.com/radio/2009/05may/RIR-090517.php

To listen to the second part you will need to become a subscriber to the site. However this is not a bad idea because this gives you access to some amazing interviews - many of them directly related to subjects that we have discussed and, hopefully, will continue to discuss on this BLOG and on my FORUM.

I am very pleased with how this interview went. I had just returned from a fascinating meeting with Tom Priestley. Tom is the only son of the playwright J.B. Priestley. As many of you will know I am involved in a "Platform Discussion" at the National Theatre in late July and I will be talking about J.B.Priestley's philosophy on time as presented in his "Time Plays".

I spent over an hour with Tom and he was very interested in ITLAD/CTF. Indeed he gave me the ultimate complement when I said that his father would have been quite fascinated by my work. As JBP wrote plays influenced by the ideas and theories of Peter Ouspensky and J.W.Dunne this was an honour indeed!

Tom will be in the audience for my "Platform Event" at the Lyttleton Theatre on Friday 24th of July. I only hope that after reading ITLAD that Tom is still as intrigued!

Portal Radio Interview

I have been very active in the last few weeks as regards radio interviews. Three weeks ago I was invited back for the third time to talk at City Talk Radio in the city of Liverpool. Last Friday morning saw me back at KUCI Radio of Orange County in California. Again this was the third time that Robert Larson has discussed my theories on his show "Out Of The Rabbit Hole".

I am sure that many of you are probably interview-fatigued by now but if you are interested in checking out another one will be interviewd live, this afternoon on New Engand's Portal Radio.

I have checked out their site this morning and they have really done my proud. They are clearly hopeful for a large audience. I will be on air for about an hour or so. I do not know ifv they have phone-in facilities or not but I am sure they will announce this when the show starts.

The link to their site is http://www.portaltalkradio.com/WELCOME.html[/url].

Latest Radio Interview - 11th/12th December 2008

Robert Larson will be interviewing me again on his show "OUT THE RABBIT HOLE" on Thursday 11th December at 5-6 PM, Pacific Time. For listeners in the UK this will be broadcast at 1 -2 AM on Friday 12th December. The show is broadcast from the studios of KUCI in Irvine, CA. For those of you in sunny Orange County this can be listened to at 88.9 FM. For the rest theshow is streamed worldwide at http://www.kuci.org/. Audio archives this interview can be found at http://www.kuci.org/talk/. If you are interested in Robert and his previous shows you can check him out at his MySpace site at:

Robert and I will be discussing my new book, The Daemon, particularly in relationship to the late, great Philip K Dick. This is curiously apposite because PKD lived in the same area of California as the KUCI studios.

Announcement - New Radio Interview

Hi Folks,

My lecture at Widnes Library went very well last night. Thank you to all who attended, particularly "Lady Jayne" who made some fantastically supportive comments when describing how her temporal lobe epilepsy opens her senses up to the real world of the "Bohmian IMAX". Also thanks to Janette Fleming for making sure the event ran so smoothly. As usual we ran out of time but I think we gained some more itladians to join the ever-swelling figures.

In the audience was local radio presenter Roy Basnett of City Talk Radio. You may recall that I did an interview on this station during the summer. Anyway Roy was keen to understand more about CTF and ITLAD so I was wisked off to the City Talk Studios to record an interview.

Roy not only grasped the ideas but ran with them as well. I suspect we have our first itladian broadcaster. The interview ran for nearly an hour. It will be broadcast early friday morning (between 2:00 - 4:00 British time) on Roy's award winning show. But do not worry if you miss it because Roy intends to feature me (photo and all) on his part of the City Talk Website: http://www.citytalk.fm/sectional.asp?id=25007

For those of you in the USA and Canada the time will be much more civilised and you can listen in as it is broadcast via the web - http://www.whatson.com/citytalk/

As City Talk is a non-music station there are no international restrictions (unlike Kerrang).
I know it is a big ask but Roy does take phone calls so that people can comment on the show. If he received a call from The States or Canada that would really be exceptional. The number will be: 00 44 151 708 1059 .

Another KERRANG Interview

Interest in the launch of my next book, The Daemon - A Guide To Your Extraordinary Secret Self is really starting to pick up. I have two interviews planned for USA-based radio stations and my local newspaper (The Wirral Globe) will be interviewing me next week.

I am also delighted to announce that I have been invited back for a third time to KERRANG Radio. As you may be aware KERRANG had quite a coup on July 23rd when the American astronaut, and 6th man to walk on the Moon, Edgar Mitchell was interviewed by the guy who interviewed me (Nick Magerrisson). This made headlines across the world when out of the blue Dr. Mitchell stated that the Rosewell crash was real and that aliens have contacted humans several times and that this truth has been hidden for over 60 years. (Indeed the producer of the Magerrison Show (Alex) has kindly sent me Dr. Mitchell's agent's email address and I have sent him details of our little bit of hyperspace here. Lets keep our fingers crossed!!!).

Anyway the interview is scheduled for Monday 22nd September at 1800 UK time.

I have no idea how long I will be on but seeing as this is prime time I imagine I will have ten minutes maximum. If you can listen in please do so.

Radio Interview - City Talk 105.9

Please note the change in date and time. City Talk wish to have more time discussing ITLAD and CTF so it will now be for about half an hour on Wednesday 4th June at 1400. They have also confirmed that listeners can phone in or email comments.

You may all be interested to know that I will be interviewed by Dean Sullivan on City Talk Radio 105.9 on Wednesday 4th June 2008 at 14:00 UK time (BST). I will be on-air for about 20 minutes. This can be listened to on 105.9 FM in the Merseyside area of the UK and for those of you spread across the globe this can, by the wonders of the internet, by listened to by logging onto the stations website http://www.citytalk.fm/.

Many of you may recognise Dean Sullivan as the actor who played Jimmy Corkhill in the long-running 'soap' Brookside. Indeed Dean had the rather dubious 'honour' of closing the long-running series by having his character paint a change on the roadsign that featured in the opening credits. "Jimmy" added the letter 'd' at the end of "Brookside Close" to make it "Brookside Closed". As a long-term fan of the show this was, for me, a very sad ending to a brilliant TV series.

I think that this will be an interview well worth listening into. You may also have the opportunity to phone in whilst I am on air ... if this is the case then the number is ++ 44 (0)151 708 1059.

Announcement - Third KERRANG Interview

It seems that my second (recorded) interview was broadcast by Kerrang Radio last week. It seems that it proved very popular with lots of listener interest (that would also explain why 'hits' on my website went through the roof for three days last week). Indeed so pleased were they with my "great interview" (their words) they have asked me back to be interviewed on one of their prime-time shows this coming Friday evening (18th April 2008) at 2230 (UK time). The person who will be interviewing me is Yvette Fielding. Yvette used to be a presenter of the popular BBC TV children's programme Blue Peter and, in recent years has been the main presenter on a very popular TV programme called Most Haunted. I will be 'on air' for about twenty minutes. I am sure that the phone lines and email will be open so please feel free to phone in or email your comments or questions.

This can be listened to on DAB radio or on-line at can be listened too on digital (DAB) radio (105.2) and on-line at:

http://www.kerrangradio.co.uk/.

If you have friends who are interested in exactly what you mean when you talk to them about ITLAD and CTF this is the chance for them to appreciate exactly what we mean by these terms.

7 Waves Radio Interview - Thursday 20th March

I will be interviewed by 7 Waves Radio here on the Wirral this coming Thursday (20th March) at 13:30 (UK time). I was interviewed by this local station this time last year so I will be giving an update on what has happened over the last year and discussing my new book. Although only broadcast over a small area 7 Waves can be listened to on-line. If anybody out there is interested you can send a message or question via the 'contact' tab at the top right hand side of their web page into the station whilst I am 'live'. It would be great to hear from you - even better if you say where you are contacting from. Log on at:

http://www.7waves.co.uk/live-across-the-wirral/

I am hoping that if this goes well we may be able to have a longer 'phone-in' session that will allow an on-line discussion that will involve you guys from far afield such as The States, Canada, New Zealand etc.

Announcement - Second Kerrang Radio Interview - 11th March 2008.

I have just been told that KERRANG RADIO (it always looks even louder in capitals doesn't it?) would like me back to do a second interview. Because of time constraints this will be pre-recorded. I am waiting for the producer to come back with an idea of exactly how long I will be on (those who listened last time will recall that I had about ten minutes or so). I am hoping for somewhat longer next time. Can you imagine having to explain ITLAD and CTF in ten minutes. On LBC Radio in April last year it took two hours and it still wasn't enough.

The interview is scheduled to go out late evening on Tuesday 11th March. I will confirm the exact time as soon as I know. KERRANG can be listened too on digital (DAB) radio and on-line at:

Interview - BBC Radio Manchester

I have been invited to be a presenter on the BBC Radio Manchester programme The Alan Beswick Show. This will take place on this coming Saturday (5th January) at 09:00 am (UK time). This will be unusual in that I will be on the show (together with another guest) reviewing the week's news and discussing my plans for 2008. As such this will hopefully be slightly different to my previous interviews. I will be on the show for an hour.

For those outside of the Manchester area this can be listened to on-line at http://www.bbc.co.uk/manchester/local_radio/ . Just press the orange button 'listen live' on the right hand side half way down. Although I do not know for certain I suspect that this part of Alan's show will not be available to listen later via the 'listen again' facility.

KUCI Radio Interview

On the 14th July this year I was interviewed by Robert Larson of KUCI Radio, based on the University of California Campus in Irvine, California. Robert's programme is called 'Out of the Rabbit Hole' and is well worth tuning into. Robert has now managed to turn the interview into two podcasts which are available for download via his Myspace location at Out the Rabbit Hole. - www.myspace.com/outtherabbithole . They can be downloaded by clicking on the 'view more' tab on the right-hand side where it says "The Extraordinary Science of What Happens When You Die". You are taken to a new window. Left click on "Hear my interview..." and download onto your PC. Remember that the podcast comes in two parts.

You will find that most of this goes over old ground but as this can be downloaded you can then keep it and even maybe bore to death your friends and relations with it!!!

BBC Radio interview - chance to 'listen again'

I was interviewed on BBC Radio Merseyside last night. I was lucky to get a spot as the Royal Command Performance was to take place just round the corner and clearly this was a big event for Liverpool - as was the presentation of the Turner Prize at the Tate. However Claire Hamilton kindly interviewed me for six minutes before the 1830 news slot. This can be listened to using the facility 'listen again'. To do this follow the following link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/local_radio/index.shtml and click on the orange 'Listen again' button on the right hand side underneath the red Radio Merseyside logo box. A new window will open. Click on the 'Claire Hamilton' programme (second one down on the 'A-Z of all shows. This will start the recording. To find my interview click through the timer button until you get into around 1 hr 15 minutes. You will get Diana Ross singing away (Love Reaction). I am on as soon as Diana finishes!

I was honoured to be an the same programme as one of my all time favourite actors - Dennis Hopper. Unfortunately I didn't meet him. I would have been keen to ask him about three of my favourite movies in which he acted - Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet and Easy Rider. I am not sure how long this is available for but I suspect that it will just be for today.

Second Spanish Radio Interview - Monday 12th November @ 1310 GMT

I have been invited back to talk about my new book and the CTF links to the film The Golden Compass on REMfm. This is the largest English-speaking radio station in Southern Spain. For those of you not living in that part of the world the interview will be broadcast live on the web. Log onto http://www.rem.fm/ at 13:10 (UK time) on this coming Monday (12th November). I will be interviewed by Mary Harboe and I will be on for about 15 minutes. Please note that this is not available for 'listening later' so you will need to be on-line at that time to catch me.
