The Daemonic as revealed in the Photoshop editing process"

THIS PHOTO & TEXT IS posted via the Doppelganger Facility for Andrew and Susan Marie Kovalinsky:

At Tony's request, and with my son Andrew's permission, I am postingup this short piece. As with all who share his neural-atypicalitywithin the autism spectrum, Andrew is inwardly and intensely focused, and has spent hours playing at alterations of these photos of Tonyand Karl. Using soft-focus, black and white, focal colors, graduated tint, angles, and glow, he uses these 2 men as a sort of pallette for the projection and expression of what he sees in their writings. He has created screen-savers of stunning beauty, in which Peake and LeMarcs revolve and rotate to the music of Kraftwerk,Ultravox, Depeche Mode, and Morrissey. I fully concur with my son that Tony and Karl are apt subjects: They are two wholly beautiful men, as is fitting for their purpose of spreading doctrine and scientific theory into the discourse of public domain. (clockwise,Andrew's impressions: The eidolon shades Tony's face, while the Daemon rises from his chest; Karl's Daemon bounces at him; the hand is in the Daemon territory, and Ks face is carressed by its light; Tony's mouth and eyes appear as a youth of 20 superimposed by daemonic energy, from his past.) ------

These beautiful Images certainly depict all that was described ,Susan Marie... and Andy!!! Andy, get thee in to a job doing stuff like this, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TALENT!!! Listen to Auntie Jesamyn!!!And I guess coming events cast their shadow before when I used to listen and like both Sting and Elvis Costello, these two have indeed come back or rather FORWARD to haunt me!!Beautiful work, now if Tony and Karl can sing as well...!! Andrew: Tremendous work young fellow, I am amazed and humbled by your beauteous imagery. Your ability to see such things is remarkable and I personally thank you very, very much.

Susan Marie: Thank You for sharing this with blog, you must be mightily proud of your boy.

Jesamyn: Lovely words Jez, and I cannot speak for Tony but when I sing I sound like a cross between Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam) and Barry White !!!

I guess we'll leave ITLAD The Musical to those better graced in the vocal talents!

I'm glad you liked them, and understand Andrew's perspective. He has inherited from his father - who was definitely the man of the inward mind and vision - much artistic sensibility. And he has "the god delusion" (not the Dawkins brand, the Provincetown brand)--but Jesamyn, there is no shame in seeing Tony and Karl as beautiful, they are, and what a calamity it would have been if they were not. "Surely these be gods" is the banner which has flown over all great men, there is nothing presumptuous about the concept, I just am so much an essentialist, that I state the concepts which dare not speak their names. The essentialist stands in marked contrast to the modern cognitive psychologist: the great man IS great, he has manna from the gods; he is NOT just a projection of our own wishes and untapped resources. And Andy in his photo work sees, he comprehends, their actual state.

Jesamyn,I like to think of you as my auntie! Thankyou. I certainly like webdesign abd this could be included i guess
Professor LeMarcs, Im glad you like them they are kind of other realm images if you like. The end result is only as good as what the subject has in him and I just see it but you professor and Tony are it.

andrew, susan marie, ....beautiful work!

SM Kovalinsky said...

Thank you, Roshni. Unusual perspective, but somehow to the purpose here.

Another thought, Rosh: A very wise and dear friend of mine has remarked of these photos, that these 2 men are not any of the creatures released from Pandora's open box, but that they are Pandora's box itself. I think I agree. . .

Andrew. Absolutly incredible imagery. As I said in my private email you show a talent for portraiture that seems instinctive. As has long been argued by art theorists the skill of portrait painting is to get behind the image of a person and to project something of their personality. This you can clearly do.

If you are interested in playing around with any other photographs from my past their is a whole series that can be found on MySpace. Follow the link:

Wonderful, other-worldly quality to these images. Fantastic work Andrew. It's even more amazng when you think how small the images actually are to be manipulated and worked with so creatively. Just think what you can do with Tony's photo albums!

Karl L Le Marcs said...

Woodsprite: Ha Yes!!

*Message to Rich (if you're reading): Bring those photo albums you brought to The Bridge that afternoon with you if you're coming on Wednesday (we shan't tell Tony!!!) *ssshhhh!*

Ahem!
