Audio From Interview On City Talk Radio

I have managed to record the internet stream of Tony's interview, from yesterday on City Talk Radio, and I have converted it to an audio file for all those of you who couldn't listen live.

When you click on the link below, you will be taken to a new page, at the bottom of which is the audio file (City Talk Radio Edit.wma), and when you click on that, you have the option of simply opening the audio or saving it to your computer, so please click on Open or Save according to your wishes.

Hope this works for everyone as the size of the audio file is too large to simply email.

If anyone has any problems listening or downloading the audio please either post a comment or email me and I will try and help.

Oooooh and Tony, thanks for the mention during the interview.

*smile*

This works simply and well, and I have saved it. It was quite considerate and gracious, I think, for KLLM to post this.

Tony, your interview was very intense and lovely. The best I have heard so far - which admittedly is not so many, and yet this is excellent. I am sure Sullivan and many others will invite you back soon. Thank you.

Susan Marie: One does one's best to assist, my Dear Lady!
*Smile*

And oh we have a few recordings of interviews even more FABO than this one (LBC April 2007 springs to mind).

I'll speak to Tony tomorrow about me putting some of them up for download on the blog like I have for this one.

Thanks again, glad it worked for you.

Anthony Peake said...

KARL: Thanks for doing this. You certainly donot waste time o Dark One!

I have WAV copies of all my interviews so maybe we could discuss ways of getting these to our itladian friends out there. A agree with you, for fizzle and bang the second LBC interview with Marcus Churchill was a classic - and two hours long!

For a slightly more cerebral one I suggest the Astraea interview that can be downloaded direct from this blogsite ... just scroll down the right hand column until you get to the Astraea logo.

wow! hey karl! thanks a lot!....i was feeling a little dejected yesterday when i couldnt listen in..
what struck me, was the effortlessness of the interviewer and interviewee....and the accent i had to listen very carefully....
over all i had a lovely time listening to Dean and Tony...
AND,KARL...TONY MENTIONED U....ONLY U!

Anthony Peake said...

ROSHNI: The accent is called "Scouse" and it can be quite difficult for people in other parts of England to follow. Indeed it can be termed more a dialect than an accent.

I am now on my way over to Liveropool to meet with Karl and Ed. It is likely that Karl will pick up this message on his computer via a wifi link but if not I will let him know what you wrote.

Cheers

Tony

Karl Le Marcs said...

How astute! Oh yes indeed!
*smile*

Karl Le Marcs said...

Roshni: Thank you Rosh, I'm glad you can now hear the interview and of course Tony's dulcet tones!

Tony: I'll speak to you in the pub!
*hic!*

Robin said...

I'm sure the girls of the blog will agree with me when I say you boys have very alluring voices.
Scouse is one of the most captivating dialects on the planet.

I'd love to hear Tony's other broadcasts and I hear Karl frequents the waves as well. *hint!

SM Kovalinsky said...

Oh, I am glad to hear it was not only my own natural tendency to fanaticism and ontology-mania which had me so floored by the voices: It sounds as if coming from the transcendent realms, and puts the American sound to shame: truly an experience for one surrounded as I am with the roughest of New York and Eastern seaboard banter. Ugh, awful! I think the voices alone will add power unto power if they should make an appearance on the New York scene. I would love to hear all other interviews.

Robin said...

Oh Susan, we might lock the doors and never let them leave should they cross the pond. Put them in a gilded cage and have them recite Shakespeare all day. My oh my...

johar said...

Tony, That was a great interview, Dean Sullivan really grasped your theory well. It was a pleasure to hear you explain it. You laid it out clearly and succinctly so it was possible to get plenty of information 'out there' and hopefully Peak(e) peoples interest further!

Thanks Karl for the link and I look forward to the other interviews you've offered to post.

SM Kovalinsky said...

Thank you, Robin, for being a comrade in my suffering! Do not tell me you are an American? I thought you were British! Where do you hail from?

Robin said...

Yes Susan, I am an American from Oklahoma. Stuck here in the center of our country for a few more years as the children approach independence. Then planning to work/travel across the states.

My husband was born and raised in NYC. We're thinking about a late summer visit in August. Still in the planning stages though as both our jobs have become very demanding.

SM Kovalinsky said...

Oh, I see! Well, thank you for telling me. Oklahoma is perhaps one of the few states I have never visited. You yourself would sound quite different from me, then--far nicer. I suppose your husband retains the NYC accent. I hope you do come to NYC; if you have the time, look me up as a fellow Peakian/Le Marcsian( if you and your husband could bear me, that is).

Robin said...

It would certainly be a pleasure to meet! I'll keep you posted. I have never visited and would like to do all the tourist things. (my husband groans at the thought... haha)

Might be the beginning of an annual conference?

SM Kovalinsky said...

Now that is an idea! If we could get the 2 British midwives engaged in American discourse in NYC, which has long been my intent! In due time; all in due time. thanks for your email; I've just replied.

Rosh said...

hey! now i want to hear Karl and Hurly Burly speak...Karl,can u record your conversations....( conversations at the pub is also ok!) and post it on this blog...

SM Kovalinsky said...

Oh, all are as crazy as I am, I see it clearly now. . .

Rosh said...

Hey!SM, we r all connected ..somehow...

Robin said...

*smiles*
(the really cheeky kind)

SM Kovalinsky said...

Yes, it's true: entangled in a most quantum way! And I suppose we are "crazed", rather than crazy; and there is a very lofty essentialist meaning to it all. I am proud that we are all Peaked and Le Marcsed.

Hehehe ... It's lovely to hear you so thrilled at the Liverpool accent! I'm surrounded by it every day and wouldn't even consider that Tony sounds scouse!

I do realise that I'm particularly fortunate to be living here and able to attend Tony's talks. And he's just as charming and kind in person as you would imagine.

SM Kovalinsky said...

Oh, you are a lucky one. And I fear that my imagination has run riot with regard to our Tony and Karl. Yes, I detect the academic and continental lilt over-riding the Liverpool. In New York, they would think he was an Oxford dandy.

Rosh said...

yes! u r lucky..woodsprite!..(wat is the meaning of that pray tell me?)

SM Kovalinsky said...

Oh, Roshni; you are a girl after my own heart!

Anonymous said...

well the woodsprite originates from my maiden name which was Birch, hence the wood bit. I was originally going to call myself wood nymph but just in time I realised it might give altogether the wrong impression! *blushes*

SM Kovalinsky said...

Oh, wood nymph ! How charming.

Rosh said...

Woodsprite! thanks! I hope u know that Roshni means `LIGHT`in the Urdu language.

SM Kovalinsky said...

That's lovely, too.

Anonymous said...

Roshni: That is indeed lovely.

Karl Le Marcs said...

Susan Marie, Robin, Johar, Roshni and Woodsprite:

So this is what you get up to when I leave you alone for the day is it?

*smile*

Karl Le Marcs said...

Robin: "I'm sure the girls of the blog will agree with me when I say you boys have very alluring voices"

Crikey!!

"I hear Karl frequents the waves as well"

*collapses*

Karl Le Marcs said...

Susan Marie: Thank You as always for your words, your efforts and simply for being you.

SM Kovalinsky said...

I can only reply with a return of thanks to you for the same, only a thousand-fold (scary, but true).

Karl Le Marcs said...

Roshni: "hey! now i want to hear Karl and Hurly Burly speak...Karl,can u record your conversations....( conversations at the pub is also ok!) and post it on this blog"

*smiles*

If you have difficulty understanding Tony's accent then mine may well throw you over the cliff!!

And Martin's is far posher!!

Watch this space regarding possible downloadable ITLAD pub chats (was discussed during a mini meeting of the IAIP today)

Karl Le Marcs said...

Johar: "Thanks Karl for the link and I look forward to the other interviews you've offered to post"

Watch this space again as this was also discussed today.

Karl Le Marcs said...

Woodsprite aka Wood Nymph: *smile*

I agree that our Tony doesn't have that scouse an accent which is probably owing to him briefly defecting to live amongst those Southern lot for a short while before he realised his mistake and came back to the fold.

My own accent often startles people, just as Susan Marie!!

*hugs to all*

Karl Le Marcs said...

Susan Marie: *blush*

It's been great reading all your chats with Johar, Woodsprite (Nymph), Roshi and Robin.

FABO to think you were all having a mini ITLAD meeting of your own while Tony and I lolled in a Liverpool pub with Ed and Rich for several hours

*Hi Rich if you're reading, get yourself involved here mate*

Karl Le Marcs said...

UPDATE: This audio file of Tony's Interview has now been downloaded by 32 people (according to my figures from the website where I uploaded the file to) in just 1 day!!

This obviously means many more people than comment here have listened to the interview which is fantastic in getting ITLAD out there to more people.

Karl:
Were you not already aware that female talk when left to their own devices usually involves talking about men!

I'm very envious at the thought of you all spending a Thursday afternoon over a pint or two of foaming ale (mmm... beer) with lively conversation. (I imagine it to be similar to the tone on here, deeply philosophical and a bit daft!)

Thanks again for enabling everyone to hear the interview. It's good to share!
*hugs*

SM Kovalinsky said...

Woodsprite: Thank you for your good-natured voicing of the envy. I just posted Roshni on Hurly's post about the dreadful envy which raged over just that which you mention, for months ( I learned to live with it). I am going to make models of you and Roshni, who openly express your feelings while maintaining sweet respectfulness and geniality, and with neither hostility nor subterfuge. Thank you.

Karl Le Marcs said...

Woodsprite: "I imagine it to be similar to the tone on here"

*smiles at the unintended pun*

Susan Marie: "I am going to make models of you and Roshni"

I hope you're not going to use these 'models' for voodoo purposes!

*smile*

Karl: That confirms you must be a scouser! (Explanation for all non-scouse speakers - all names are shortened so Tony becomes Tone!)

So should I call you Kar? *chuckles*

Karl Le Marcs said...

Woodsprite: If you like!!

I'm sure that one letter will save an 'el of a lot of time.

*groans and shakes head at self*

Some points that maybe of interest to our international members.

Scouse is an accent that is unique to Liverpool and about twenty five or so miles around the city centre. Outside of this the accent changes totally. It is really quite unusual and has fascinated linguists for many years. Indeed the surrounding accents are quite different being more generically "North Western".

The accent is unique because the ethnic mix of "scousers" is also fairly unique. Probably 85% of scousers will have Irish or Welsh blood in them. Indeed as a typical scouser I have no English blood in that all my ancestors hailed from Ireland and North Wales (with a little Scottish and Spanish to add to the mix). The Irish-Welsh link makes scousers much more celtic in their outlook than the fellow North Westerners. That is why music and poetry are so strongly linked to Liverpool. That, and of course, the priceless sense of humour.

I moved back to Merseyside just over two years ago after being away for 35 years. The first thing that hit me was the humour. People in this area are so verbally sharp it is amazing. You really need to keep your wits about you!

Finally to be a proper scouser you need to have been born within the sound of the "Bidston 1 o'clock gun". This was based over here on The Wirral Peninsula. This is Merseyside's equivalent of "Bow Bells" with regard to true Cockneys.

The major problem is that this gun has not been fired for many many years. I suppose that "within the sound" does not equate with "to hear" which implies active aural stimulation!

UPDATE: During my day of absence making the world a better place in my other circles of my gestalt existentialism I see that the Radio Audio has only been downloaded another 2 times today making a total of 34.

Tony: It may be an idea to create a sidebar where we can place these links to your shows for future downloading rather than this post getting lost in the coming days. We can then place more for download once you get the wavs to me and I can re-encode them to Mp3 or wma for ease of downloading a smaller size!
