holiday destination?

I spotted this in Saturday's Guardian:

"2Festival of near death experiences, Spain
At the Santa Marta de Ribarteme festival in Las Nieves, Galicia, people who've had near death experiences - surviving illnesses or accidents - are paraded through the streets in open coffins. Their relatives carry the coffin to church (god forbid any of them has a heart-attack on the way), then locals gather round to hear the story of their near misses, before fireworks to lighten the mood.

Woodsprite: Thanks for this, Di.

Some more info on this festival here:

The Fiesta Of The Near Death Experience

Sounds like the festival should be ITLAD sponsored.

And it kind of reminds me of this:

El Dia De Los Muertos (Day Of The Dead) Celebrations - Mexico
[by Tony]

I love all these cultural festivals across the world. It seems everyone has these fabulous ideas to celebrate these things, under the disguise of just having a day off work, whereas in the UK we just wait for dreary Bank Holidays and the inevitable drizzle that accompanies it.

World ITLAD Day!!! Now, there is an idea!!!
*goes off to ponder*

KARL: I totally agree. Yet again we have a potential itladian list - itladian festivals of the world. What next - my top ten itladian food dishes (now there is a challenge that I am sure will bring about some stunning puns)
