TV series Lost and the Itladian Zeitgeist

My sister, Sandra, has just emailed me from Edmonton, Canada to ask me if I watch the TV series Lost. Unfortunately I watched the first two episoded over here in the UK and then missed a few and decided there was no point in trying to catch up. It seems that I have missed yet another massive CTF/ITLAD Zeitgeist (or as somebody, quite rightly corrected me: Weltgeist) cultural reference. I had heard it suggested that the group are all experiencing a collective TLE 'absence' and another that they are all in the process of dying in the plane crash (both of which are extremely itladian). However Sandra tells me that the episode broadcast in Canada recently involved a 'past-life review' and deja vu experiences as part of that review. Spot on eh!

Many of you have spotted these references in movies, films, poems, songs and plays. Maybe we should start a list?

Hate to sound smug(actually no i don't i love being smug) but i do believe i mentioned this about Lost in a post to you a couple of months back? I even pointed out one episode in particular with a character that is constantly having Deja Vu, this really hits home in season 3. I also pointed out that from a sociological point of view, Lost is an absolute treat to watch. I can give you a list, just say the word Tony!!

NOBODY TELL ME ABOUT SEASON 4 OF LOST, I'M WAITING FOR THE DVD....

I'm lost!

Suggestion for Tony would be to put a page on his website detailing these cultural references which can be added to as the list grows.
Films, Books, Theatre, Music, Poems etc.

I emailed Tony privately earlier this week but did anyone see BBC2's "Horizon" programme on decision-making on Tuesday night?
They had a particularly Peakeian section discussing the research of Dr Dean Radin of the Institute of Noetic Studies.
He has shown that consciousness has an anticipatory or precognitive sense of around 3 or more seconds.
His experiments are based around showing subjects randomly generates calm and emotional photographs.
He monitors the skin conductivity of the subjects as they are shown the photographs and his analysis shows that for a few seconds BEFORE an emotional photograph is shown, the skin conductivity of the subject has already began to rise - in anticipation of what is about to occur.
Radin concludes this to be proof of precognition and postulates that consciousness is for that moment in sychronicty with the time-symmetrical mechanical and quantum mechanics in which our timeline exists.
But to myself, Tony and I am sure many of you ITLADians the significance of this research into the Daemon/Eidolon Dyad and Tony's book are startling.
I know that Tony wishes to contact Dean Radin, and I think there is plenty here to create a post on its own towards this research, but aware that I am rather taking over here I thought I'd just leave a comment (for now) and advise anyone to try to see this programme which I believe is available via the BBC's iplayer or is due for repeat next weekend.

AND, if anyone saw "Torchwood" last night (the episode entitled "Adam"), then I'm sure some more Peakeian similarities would have been drawn.
Fascinating episode based on false memory implantation.

HB,

My apologies - of course you have already flagged up Lost to me. I am getting addled in my old age. I really need to find a way of catching up on this programme. Maybe my local library will have the DVD's and I will spend a week watching each episode!

Karl: Dean Radin is a name that has synchronistically cropped up four times this week - all from unrelated sources.

*OUTRAGE*
I THINK TONY AND I ARE BEING LAMPOONED !!!!!!
Channel 4: The Big Bang Theory (last night) - new nerdy comedy about two enthusiastically brilliant physicists (one tall, slim and with a high forehead and the other with black hair and spectacles) and a beautiful young woman named Penny -
Mmmm, sounds kinda familiar.
*strokes chin in Machiavellian manner*
Anyway, opening lines:
Sheldon: "So, if a photon is directed through a plane with two slits in it and either slit is observed it will not go through both slits. If it's not observed it WILL. However, if it's observed after it's left the plane but before it's hit its target it will not have gone through both slits."
Leonard: "Agreed, what's your point?"
Sheldon: "There's no point, I just think it's a good idea for a T-Shirt!"

*Ha Ha!*

And describing his scribblings:
Sheldon: "It's just some Quantum Mechanics with a little String Theory around the edges. That part there, that's just a joke, it's a spoof of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation."
Penny: "So you're like one of those Beautiful Mind type genius guys?"
Sheldon: [Bashfully] "Yeah."
Leonard: "At least I didn't have to invent 26 dimensions just to make the math come out."
Sheldon: "I didn't invent them they're there."
Leonard: "In what universe?"
Sheldon: "In all of them - that is the point!"

*Hee Hee*

(Well I like it anyway)
*screams*
Oh no! I'm a nerd!
*re-dons spectacles and returns to merging Schrodinger and Dirac's equations with Heisenberg's Matrix Mechanics and some imaginary numbers*
Tony will no doubt get the girl and I'll be left all alone reading Sartre with an Indian Takeaway!
*shudders at flashback to last night*
*SMILE*
