On Friday I was invited to present a private lecture at the home of Dr Alan Roberts. Alan, together with a few of his friends, came along to my talk at Hoylake Library here on the Wirral. Alan and his associates are very interested in the synergy between ITLAD and CTF and the teachings of a little known, but very influential, intellectual by the name of Eugene Halliday. We had a fairly large turn-out for what became a fascinating evening. The lecture was filmed and in due course this will be posted on YouTube. At the present time we are undecided as to whether the lecture will be posted on Alan's site or, with advice, that I should set up my own YouTube section. Suffice to say this will allow those of you who for geographical reasons, cannot get to any of my talks (locations such as Paraguay, Namibia and China leap to mind) to see one of my lectures.The lecture was received so positively that I have now been invited to lecture to another group associated with the work of Eugene called The Institute For The Study of Hierological Values (ISHVAL). This will take place in Manchester later in the year.
Eugene had a concept that he termed 'Reflexive Self Consciousness'. In many ways this has elements of the Daemon-Eidolon Dyad, which is very exciting and something I intend to discuss in further detail in later postings.

When Tony mentioned Eugene Halliday to me on Saturday I knew it rang distant bells with me somewhere and indeed on returning home and searching through my ridiculously enormous personal library I found that I had his books entitled: "Defence Of The Devil" and "Reflexive Self-Consciousness".
Eugene gave the term "Absolute Sentient Power" to what we would call "God" and said that sentience, and thus consciousness, was an inherent quality of this power and by extension of all substances and created beings. Beings, including ourselves are modalities of this power which we feel as a field of energy, from which and through which we are informed about ourselves and the world. The goal and purpose of life is to grow towards an awareness of our true nature. This consciousness he called "Reflexive Self-Consciousness" or "RESEC" for short. The force which calls and drives beings to work towards "RESEC" is Love - which he defined as "working to develop the potentialities of being". Because of his own understanding and wisdom he valued individuality and encouraged others to discover their own valid way to reveal reflexivity to themselves.
Many of these beliefs are echoed in ITLAD and the CTF theory.
I look forward very much to hopefully attending the meeting later in the year in Manchester to meet and talk to the The Institute For The Study of Hierological Values (ISHVAL).
This is wonderful news to me, as I was growing despondent over my inability to get to any of these lectures and view Anthony "in action", as it were. I do hope a YouTube is set up. And all of this sounds enlightening and very much food for reflection. Thank you.
I used the link and have been reading Halliday for several hours. I am amazed at how absorbing the material is, and how relevant to the eidolon/daemon dyad. Many parallels, many echos. Very akin to Jung as well. And Karl has given a perfectly lovely synopsis.

Just a note on the word "intellectual" - it isn't a broad enough description for Eugene Halliday - nor for any of us! Eugene described the whole being as Four-Part Man, comprising intellect (head), feeling (heart) and will (belly), joined together by a co-ordinating function (spine) which allows these apparently different functions to work together.

It is interesting that you mention my use of the word 'intellectual'. As soon as I posted it I considered it quite inaccurate in many ways. As you say it simply is not broad enough. Polymath maybe and even that does not reflect the subtle levels of his thought.
From the emails I have received this posting has stimulated a good deal of interest in Eugene's writings. I am really pleased at this development.

Indeed welcome, and thank you for your comments on my synopsis of Eugene's book.
Regarding the semantics of description, I rather like the traditionally russian collective of интеллигенция or "Intelligentsia" myself: it being a social class of people engaged in complex mental and creative labor directed to the development and dissemination of culture, encompassing intellectuals and social groups close to them.
And I hope to attend the ISHVAL meeting with Tony later in the year.
