ITLAD Glossary

ITLAD
Is There Life After Death
(the title of Tony’s first book)

Introduction: Any group of like minded people begin to form their own language; it’s a tradition, or an old statute. Or Something. The etymology of all language is a journey of varied vernacular and nominative nomenclature.
.
And you should hear some of the language that HurlyBurly can come up with!!!
.
*washes own ears out with soap and water*
.
So, as Tony’s book and his blog expands around the world and into its own language I thought I’d produce a brief glossary of terms and acronyms that we use to help newcomers to these pages, or indeed those of us who have occasional memory slippages owing to over ale-inducements.
.
The glossary, which has been compiled with the full agreement of Tony Peake (just to avoid any JK Rowling-esque Hissy-Fits) can be added to, as new terms slip into common usage, and if I have missed anything out (quite likely).

A-Z of some terms and acronyms used on the blog:

BIMAXBohmian IMAX
(not to be confused with the Bohemian IMAX!)
BOL – “Being of Light
Bohmian IMAX – The three-dimensional, holographic representational playback of our panoramic life review within our subjective consciousness, indistinguishable to us from 'reality'
CTFCheating The Ferryman
(The Theory; and original title of Tony’s first book)
CTFesque - Pertaining to general CTF theory
Daemon – The part of self that has lived our life before, and guides us through our subjective Bohmian IMAX recurrence, with its eye on the future
Eidolon – The part of self that is experiencing the panoramic life review in real-time within its subjective Bohmian IMAX, with its eye on the present
EITLADEvolution of ITLAD
EIW - Enlightened ITLADian Way
IAIP - International Association of ITLADian Philosophers
ITLADIs There Life After Death (the title of Tony’s first book)
ITLADian (or any derivative) – One who adheres to the basic theory behind the book
ITLAD:TESOWHWWD – The full acronym of Tony’s first book
(only really pronounceable in Wales and certain regions of Poland!)
MMI - Many Minds Interpretation (subtle shift from MWI)
MWIMany World Interpretation
(Hugh Everett III’s interpretation of Quantum Mechanics)
NDE - Near Death Experience
RDEReal Death Experience
SCTF Strong CTF theory
(that we all are doomed to live the same life again, as Nietzsche suggested)
Synchrondipity – The ITLADic amalgam of Serendipity and Synchronicity
TIWIGI – “This Is Where It Gets Interesting”
(A Peakeian catchphrase)
TLETemporal Lobe Epilepsy
Virgin Life – The first ‘run-through’ of our lives in 'flesh and blood' (as a unitary being with no Daemon) which acts as a blueprint for future Daemonically guided returns within later subjective Bohmian IMAX recurrences
VLM - Virgin Life Memory
WCTF Weak CTF theory
(that Daemon-induced warnings and interventions can change events)
YAS – “Yet Another Synchronicity”
(An ITLADists frequent muttering)

ADDITIONAL:
Some new terms used on the blog and within CTF theory

The Mandalay Effect - a subtle awareness that somebody, as yet un-met will feature in one's future life
CtCw (Collapsing The Consciousness Wave) - my new theory of consciousness which together with ITLAD and CTF makes up the BIGTOE
BIGTOE (Bohmian IMAX Grand Theory Of Everything) - The Peake-Le Marcs Unifying Field Theory of Consciousness
.
Please add your comments and also suggestions for additions to the ITLAD Glossary.

KARL: Excellent contribution as usual. I am surprised that you missed including the Marcsian "Mandalay Effect" and I missed it also when I read through the proof a few days ago.

I am sure that we will end up with many more but this does help any new readers understand the nomenclature.

With your permission I will place the dictionary section of your post in a new text box to the left.

Tony;
Thank You, I did consider adding The Mandeley Effect but it didn't seem to fit with the others, being specific effect rather than a term, but ok, I'll add it to the A-Z.

And of course you have my permission Tony, for the usual fee which I shall enjoy drinking with you at the weekend.

*smile*

Anyway, there must be more that I have missed...............

Hey I gave you a name check in the Introduction!!!

Yesssssss!!!!
Anyway, keeping on topic, HurlyBurly; anything missing from the ITLAD Glossary then please let me know and it will either be added forthwith or hurled out of the window.

KARL; This was a wonderful idea, and a much-needed addition to the text. Beautiful work; I would like to read through slowly when I have the time, and digest, and ponder any additional terms. Really beautiful.

SM Kovalinsky said...

As I said, I will ponder and would love to be able to add a contribution: and actually, Hurly in his prankish astuteness may not be completely off-topic. There is a sort of special meaning which I would call "Daemonic" in the very highest sense; and has been a sort of "code" among diverse intellectuals from Byron to Wilde to Tennessee Williams.The whole "boy" thing is a sort of reference to this sensibility, which runs from Plato and the Symposium on. Intellectuals have fought for this idea, been imprisoned for it, and it runs like a golden thread throughout the whole history of philosophical discourse. It even appeared in Eminem's live version of "Stan", in which he inserted this "code" like a secret call from the shades to all who might inwardly comprehend his poetic message. (My husband and I actually had the good fortune to see him perform, and it was a moment of some import and meaning for us - so much so that I wrote and presented on it - when he began the almost warrior-like plea, "hey boy, boy, you go, boy") So that would be my addition: "Boy": code word for an intellectual concept which has a peculiar set of historical and philosophical connotations, along with political and cultural implications, for those with a strong proclivity to be Daemon-oriented." But probably would belong in the glossary for the second book, The Daemon. I think some days I should stay away from the blog altogether--I am too manic and hyper-graphic today. But, Karl, your glossary is wonderful and a much-needed addition to this blog, and to Tony's wonderful work, and to your own.

Hurlyburly said...

Susan Marie is an Eminem fan? That does it, now we definately have to meet! Eminem is an absolute genius and anyone that says different can explain to my why.....and fail.

Where did you see him perform? I saw him live about 4-5 years ago, absolutely brilliant.

SM Kovalinsky said...

Hi, HB: It was in New York, and my husband and I suffered a virtual nervous breakdown from it. Yes, genius, and more than genius, especially in the Stan song, beautiful as an expression of a true eidolon/daemon encounter -- and I cannot think now as have not slept in nearly 72 hours--but the one about his mother? Ima Kill you, I believe: to see him perform that live was to view a judgment from the heavens, that thundered in the index. I will never forget it. A journalist from the New York Times called him a reincarnation of the great Ginsberg, and this is why I became horrified when he began his descent after the 8 Mile film. He threw it all away. But he left that gift from about '98-'02, the likes of which will not be seen again, not in this age. I could speak on him for hours; and I wrote a 25 page "essay" on him which I tried pushing on the Provincetown newspapers; but alas, they had deemed him "homophobic", which is a laugh. He embodies gayness. Well, lest Karl the stern blog moderator becomes enraged at our "off-topic" bantering, I will say this: Hurly, would you not agree that if Marshall Mathers was the eidolon, then Slim Shady was the Daemon, perhaps even the collective Daemon of America and western Europe? And could not his name be set down in the Glossary as an expression of the Hegelian "world historical moment"? HB, tell me what you think.

Hurlyburly said...

Susan.

Thanks for your great reply. I expect Karl will be along shortly to tell me off for such a cheeky change of subject but i'd love to chat with you about Eminem at greater length. I's also love to read your essay if you had a copy to send via email? Let me know, my email address should be accessable in my profile i think.

Also, yes i would largely agree with what you have said! If i don't reply straight away don't be surprised, i'm off on a 3 day stag weekend to Amsterdam in about 11 hours and will be a bit rushed, i may have time to write something tonight, even perhaps start a new topic so not to step on young Karl's delightfull toes!

SM Kovalinsky said...

Be careful and stay safe - enjoy yourself, and come to no harm. Very good then, in my present feverish state I feel this all to be very much on-topic, but I will heed the warning, and try and lay hands on that essay, which was a masterpiece which seemed to write itself. Take good care, will be in touch. SMK

HurlyBurly and Susan Marie;

I can just about still see the main topic of the post from here thanks to Susan Marie's considerations of Hegel.

One wonders what the great Georg would have made of Mr Eminem!!!

SM Kovalinsky said...

I wanted to add to Karl that to my thinking, the Mandalay Effect is truly of import, essential really, and ought to be in the Glossary for certain. I remember reading your original post on it, which was absorbing and beautiful . SMK

Karl Le Marcs said...

Susan Marie;
Thank You, and I'm sure Rachael would agree.

For those within no idea what we're on about please read my original post (link below):

HurlyBurly;
Oy cheeky! To veer off-topic once or twice is natural; In your five comments to this post you have just about scraped topic once!!

Which admittedly is around your average.
*giggle*

But, yes, thank you for being at least mindful of the fact that the rest of us often need binoculars to see where you go on occassion.

Maybe we should include a HurlyBurly Tangent to the Glossary in your honour Dear Boy!

*smile and respecting wink*

Thanks Karl, As usual a wonderful idea. It took me a while to figure out the abbreviations when I first joined so this will be most welcome by everyone. oh and I love your Mandalay story, very haunting.

*presents Karl with little trophy for all his good work*

Karl Le Marcs said...

Johar;
Thank you for your comments JoJo, and you should see the length of the "Karl L Le Marcs occassional sayings - Glossary"!!
*giggle*

Your words on taking a while to understand some of our abbreviations sum up precisely my reasons for asking Tony if we should compile this.

*Accepts tiny trophy with humility and immediately dedicates it to every ITLADian here and gives it away to be housed in the ITLAD display cabinet*

(You know what I'm like!)

Thanks again!

Thank you Karl .... I once asked Tony for a small version of his book, a sort of *Itlad for Dummies* and it has been a Never Ending Source of Amusement for dear Susan Marie!!! I often get e mails addressed to You Big Dummie!! and suchlike(only in fun of course!!)well now I have your Glossary for Dummies so soon I should be much more Learned!!

Karl Le Marcs said...

Jesamyn;
Awwwwwwwwww, dear Sweet Jesamyn, thank you! But you are far from a Dummie, my Antipodean Angel, far, far, far from it !!

The ITLAD Glossary is primarily for newcomers to the blog to help them when reading some of the excellent posts and comments made by All of us who frequent here with the vigour of those who adhere to an ideology.

There are few who understand the implications of ITLAD, CTF and my own Collapsing the Consciousness Wave theories better than you at times (as I can strongly testify towards given our off-blog emails and your questions to me)

Thank you for your words, they mean a lot to me, and if I can help some people understand better some of the marvellous discussions we have on here then I feel my job is done and my time was well spent compiling this Glossary for the blog.

*hugs*

Tony;
You mentioned to me in the car park on Sunday after ISHVAL that you wanted to add the "Daemon-Eidolon Dyad" to the glossary.
Can you get over to me your definition and I will add it to the list for you.

And wasn't there another term that came up during your lecture or my bit that we said should also go in? I didn't write it down which is fatal as my long term memory is phenomnenal but my short term memory is PANTS !!!

*smile*

Update;

Added "CTFesque" to ITLAD Glossary
(from Susan Marie)

SM Kovalinsky said...

What an honor. Too much for me right now. I thank the master humbly.

Karl Le Marcs said...

Update:

Added "EIW" - Elightened ITLADian Way to the
ITLAD Glossary
(from Jesamyn)

Tony:
Can you get me your one line definition of your Daemon-Eidolon Dyad to me so I can add that as well?
(I wouldn't presume to define it myself)

Jesamyn said...

Thank you Karl!! Now one day we may have cards to carry, or a special handshake!! Or just a lovely little mini book as the Companion Itlad Dictionary.
Much-honoured too!!!!
