Second Life: Flanagan's Apple Meeting
The planned "Second Life" meeting has taken a step closer. I have checked out WiFi zones in Liverpool and I have found that one of the zones in Liverpool city centre is located in exactly where we need it: Flanagan's Apple itself. This is really great news because it means that those interested in meeting face to face in 'First Life' can also bring along their wifi enabled laptops and interface with the other itladians via Second Life.
The more I think about this plan the more the wonderful post-modernist themes strike me. I am sure that we could get a considerable amount of media interest in this idea - particularly if each of us, in our own geographic locations, mention this to our local radio stations or TV stations.

Erm, If I take a laptop and go sit in Flannagan's Apple; log on to Second Life and go sit in Flannagan's Apple; can I then, in Second Life, take a laptop and go sit in Flannagan's Apple; log on to Second Life and go sit in Flannagan's Apple?

We could create some kind of cyber time wormhole here !
Or at very least, the world's first ale-infused cyber pub-crawl conference on consciousness studies.
*smile*
Karl: I know, really weird isn't it. Have you read the Ray Bradbury short story "The Illustrated Man". This has a very similar ending to that of you sitting in Flanagan's Apple and logging on Second Life ... et
Ah, the weird synchrondipities that lie within this blog.
As you'd probably expect, yes I have read "The Illustrated Man" which is actually a collection of 18 short stories, unrelated but tied together by the same concept which inspired a later novel of Ray Bradbury's which I leant to a certain D.Brown esq who subsequently nicked the title to call his UK tour. The book was "Something Wicked This Way Comes".

Hi,
Can i park my car in Second Life if I show up in First Life?
Any closer to fixing a date/time yet/ Just let me know. A text would be as good as anything.
And is there a plan for the suggested T-shirts yet?
Cheers
Ed
Zen !!!!
Hi Ed,
We're probably going to have a few wet-runs (a wet-run being a dry-run plus several ales) to make sure it is workable first. Not sure when, will await Tony's thoughts on that one.
And if it's T-shirts then I'm not coming!!
*brushes down jacket and alters angle of Trilby to what is known in certain circles of chique as 'rakish'*
Good to hear from you on here though Ed.
Sorry guys - the tee shirts are only virtual ones not the real thing. I am not too sure I want us all looking like we are on some kind of Stag Night Outing or something similar (I did once have an 18:30 tee shirt by the way. Any E-Bay offers???)
Good Job!
I'm really not a T-Shirt guy personally and I thought you meant your shirt had the time 18:30 on it!
*bashes head*
Now your Cordoba T-Shirt, maybe?????
