The Lake House
I just caught the ITLAD genre film 'The Lake House' on HBO. Although it doesn't speak directly to ITLAD, it does a very nice job with some of the related themes - especially that of time. It received only mixed reviews when released 2 years ago but I suspect many here would find it quite enjoyable.
“[The Lake House] was written by David Auburn, directed by Alejandro Agresti, and stars Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock as Alex Wyler and Kate Forster, respectively an architect living in 2004 and a doctor living in 2006. The two are introduced and share correspondence across the years by leaving letters in a mailbox at the lake house they've both lived in at separate points in time.” Wikipedia link

I havn't actually seen this yet, (shocking i know) ol' Bullock has made a few of these recently. Premonition was a surprisingly good film which played around nicely with the chronology of time. I shall try to watch this now but recommend that you check out Premonition also.
It seems all these themes are being explored in cinema now. I would like to see this. Hurly, was Premonition ITADian in your opinion, and in what way, if you have the time to reply?. . .
I'll write a review later on so i'm not stepping on anybody's toes/thread.
But yes it was definately ITLADian in theme.
I had thought of that as well, and sorry for it. Yes, that would be good, thank you. I can't comment futher on RACs as I have not viewed, but do thank him for his post.
Yes, I liked it - will watch it again. Reminds me of 'A Moment in Time' (Christopher Reeves, Jane Seymour), which I love. Most people have probably seen it by now, but if not, I think it is worth watching.
Quite liked 'Premonition'.
'The Butterfly Effect' is very much about alternative lives. I am just looking at my DVD, and I realise that I have the sequel, 'The Butterfly Effect 2'. Never seen the original.
I think i shall make a film glossary shortly with a very brief overview of each film, could easily list about 30.
That would be wonderful, HB.
It will be up by the morning!
Excellent.
A sort of ITLAD guide to the video store... an awesome idea, HB.
RAC: Thank You for bringing this to our attention. I'm afraid I don't watch many films but HurlyBurly has often discussed the ITLADian angles within certain movies. Very Often!!
*winks at Martin*
Oh yes it certainly struck a chord with me... (C minor??? just kidding..) I have long been a fan of letters across time or Communications leading to Mindes meeting across Time and Space.. I was always a fan even when a child of writing a letter to My Future Self... alas the letter I penned as a 10 year old is LOST in the mists of time.. the Movie Thang sounds wonderful indeed...Patrick...oh yes I must watch THAT one again.. this Blog never ceases to amaze... a Life within Life, a Meeting of Like Minded people!!!!

Aww, my lass: I have the letter from your 10 year old self, I do believe. . .
HURLY: What happened to your post? I hope it wasn't my business yesterday???
It's a work in progress. MY girlfriend has just had surgery (discectomy) today so i've been a bit busy down the hospital on my lunch break with that. I'll hopefully finish it off tonight.
HB: Oh, I am sorry to hear it; I hope she is all rested and better very soon. Of course take your time: just looking forward to it.
Yes Hurly I hope all will be well.....Your Film Guide for Itladians sounds GREAT and would confuse the Uninitiated alright!!! But WE would all buy one...
oh by the way though Sandra Bullock is maybe not THE most sultry or *Beautiful* actress today... she may not like your Title "ol Bullock!!!"!!!! :))
